I am finally home!
I left Monday to get my Mom and sister in Maine and bring them back here to watch the kids for a few days while I was in PA. Then I drove to PA Tuesday, drove back Thursday, drove Mom and Amy home Friday, and drove back here today. (Just writing that was exhausting!)
All went well, my sister is now a pro in all things related to baby and toddler care, and my Mom, (who of course is an old pro) cooked a whole bunch of great things for James to eat (none of which he ate).
I will post pics from the last few days soon! In the meantime, I am anxious to check in on all of my Bloggy friends!

Extra-Large Coloring Fun
I still have boxes that have not been unpacked. There is a good and a bad side to that: the bad is that I still have boxes to be unpacked. The good is that every so often when I say, "Where the heck is (my electric pencil sharpener, my carafe, the Monopoly game, my fabulous red bracelet . . .) I sometimes stumble on things that I totally forgot that we had.
Like the mural-sized Cars coloring papers!!!!!!!!
A little boy I know was SO TOTALLY EXCITED to see these this morning!!!!
Yes, he is definitely going to be left-handed. (I guess. I mean, I am still duct-taping his left arm to his side while he eats, but . . .) No, JUST KIDDING but I have considered it. Sort of.

And yes, those areoh my God I can't believe I put tighty-freaking whiteies on my son UNDERPANTS!!! (Target didn't have any more fun Cars underpants, but he still feels like a Big Boy anyway.)
A shout out to Auntie Gini, Uncle Bill and the kids for giving James these wall murals as part of a HUGE art supply birthday gift. The gift that keeps on giving, even 4 months after his birthday!

Halloween Sound Effects: Vol. 1
OK, so you know those sound effects CDs that you can buy for Halloween? The ones with the screaming, the creaking, and the CATS FIGHTING????
Well, let's just say that I won't be needing one of them this year, as I am being barraged nightly with live sound effects.
This is just a small tidbit of what has been SCARING THE HELL OUT OF ME every night:
They have been fighting on the roof of the garage, which just happens to be outside James' room. Is this why he wakes up three or four times every night???
I just love how you can hear Gino at the end trying to be a manly dog . . . heh heh.
Go ahead--play it again. You know you want to!

Punkin' Carving 101
Get the biggest pumpkin you can find for your son while on a work trip to upstate New York.
Get a real workout while carving into it's 6" shell with a dull steak knife.
After 10 minutes of huffing and puffing and getting ready to throw it out the back door, complete the hole in the back.
Begin carving the face with the same dull steak knife while your son begins to pull out the guts.
After an hour working on the first pumpkin, get smart and get a power tool from the garage for the next one.
Spend twenty minutes trying to convince your son that the pumpkins won't bite him and that it is safe to go and see them.
Pay way too much money for a green LED strobe light to make the big scary pumpkin even scarier to your two-year old.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

D & D Stands for . . .
DECIDEDLY DELICIOUS!
We took a trip to D & D Market on Franklin Avenue
in Hartford's South End today.
The cheese case is a sight to behold.
And see all of the Pizelle cookies underneath it? YUM!

Mmm . . . can I have some proscuitto, please?
"Excuse me sir, may I have a large containerof stuffed cherry peppers?"
Maybe some dry-aged salami?
We just had to buy a bag of these anise biscuit cookies.
Oh, lordy me! Would you just LOOK at this ricotta?
These steaks are absolutely mouth-watering!
Uh, yeah, OK, I'd like to have one of these roastsfor Sunday dinner, please.
Anybody need some beans for their minestrone?Or perhaps their pasta e fagioli?
Oh, did you say you needed some cannedtomatoes for that famous sauce you make?
Check out this entire aisle devoted just to PASTA!
After D & D we headed to Franklin Grinders.
James was getting a little deliriously hungrywhile waiting for his Dad to get his lunch.
Here is a beef cutlet grinder, which I havesince renamed "Heaven on a Roll."
And here is a ham and cheese grinder--SCRUMPTIOUS!Are you hungry yet?
