The Seven Things Meme

I was tagged for a fun meme by my bloggy friend Kim over at Endless Possibilities. I found her blog almost a year ago and have enjoyed getting to know her. Stop in to her blog and check her out--she also has a great sister site that makes me drool. You can see it here.

Here I go . . . .

7 Things I Want To Do Before I Die...

1. See my children as happy and healthy adults, with inquisitive minds, a respect for all living things and a desire to give back to the world.

2. Make sure my husband knows really and truly how much I love him.

3. Have a little house on a few acres with some donkeys, sheep and a garden.

4. Learn how to sew so I can make little quilts, aprons and window treatments out of vintage fabric remnants.

5. Write a children's book (or a few) about the adventures of Rascal, Gino, Trigger or Henry.

6. Be chosen as a Jeopardy contestant.

7. Learn how to play guitar well and play and sing with James Taylor

7 Things I Can Do...

1. Recite the Velveteen Rabbit by memory

2. Sing the "16 Counties of Maine" song

3. Cry on demand

4. Make a nice apple pie with crust from scratch

5. Sing anything from "The Sound of Music," "Annie," "Jesus Christ Superstar," "South Pacific" or about ten other musicals

6. Open mouth, insert foot {on a daily basis} (I had to borrow that from Kim)

7. Provide first-aid for an animal

7 Things I Can't Do...

1. Simple math

2. Sort-of-difficult math

3. Hard math

4. Figure out the time difference between EST and PST without counting out loud

5. My taxes (which my mom has always said is so easy that a dog could do it)

6. Convert a recipe from 6 servings to two, especially if eggs are involved

7. Provide first-aid to a human without fainting

7 Things That Attracted Me To My Hubby...

1. He picked on me constantly when we met, which reminded me that little boys in school always pick on the girls they like the most

2. He was super sweet with his niece

3. He could always make me laugh (usually at the expense of someone else)

4. I could usually beat him at Jeopardy

5. His mountain biking leg muscles

6. His love of all things related to tools, garages, cars, gadgets and fixing things

7. He has watched me cry on demand a million times and he still gets a kick out of it (accept when I try to use it on him)

7 Things I Say Most Often

1. "Can you mute the commercials?"

2. "Dude, are you kidding me?"

3. "Good Morning/Afternoon, this is Allison" (when my work line rings)

4. "Do you have to go potty?"

5. "Do you want to give James a bath, or do the dishes?"

6. "Get up, bum!"

7. "I can't FREAKIN' stand (insert whatever here)!"

7 Celebrity Crushes

1. Wentworth Miller from Prison Break

2. Scott Foley from The Unit

3. Bill Clinton

4. Grizzly Adams (a show from my childhood)

5. James Taylor

6. Steve from Blues Clues (I know, it's sick.)

7. Mike Holmes from Holmes on Homes (killer biceps AND Carhart overalls? Excuse me while I pass out!!!)

OK, YOU'RE it!

Thanks Daddy

Hi Daddy,

I miss you! I've been really busy playing with the cars that you got for me when we were in Maine. ALL 75 OF THEM.

Some of them are really old, like you! I spend all day taking them out of the basket and looking at them one by one, and then lining them up. It is so much fun! Mommy says to tell you thanks too, because I bring her every car and say, "See cool truck Mommy? See red car Mommy? See nice airplane Mommy?"

I can't wait to see you tonight! I have a car show all ready for you!

XOXO,

James

"Get the Mail Mommy?"

That is what he is asking me in this picture.

Whenever we go somewhere he starts asking if he can get the mail about a 1/2 mile from the house. He always wants to know if there will be birthday cards in the mailbox for him.

So, even though his birthday isn't until June, please start sending him some birthday cards!!!

A kid this cute should get a birthday card in the mail everyday, I think. Don't you?

I've Been Tagged!

I've been tagged by my sister-in-law. The rules are as follows:

  • Link to the person who tagged you

  • Post the rules on your blog

  • Write six random things about yourself

  • Tag six-ish people at the end of your post

  • Let each person know he/she has been tagged

  • Let the tagger know when your entry is up

So, here we go.....

  1. When I was a kid I always wanted braces and a cast. I wanted the braces because they had the cool colored rubber bands and the cast so everyone could write on it. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I got braces in 6th grade and the horrible pain and taunts from other kids to go with them. I also got hit by a car which gave me a hairline fracture in my leg. (NOT bad enough for a cast.) Dang it!

  2. I am deathly afraid of spiders and snakes--an irrational fear, especially for a kid that was a tomboy and actually LOOKED for snakes to play with!

  3. Every now and then I miss my first car--a 1978 VW Rabbit. I always described the color as "if Pepto-Bismol were green." It got GREAT gas mileage. Seems like I could scrape change off the floor to put gas in it and it would run for a week.

  4. I burn my myself a couple of times a month--either by burning my tongue on hot food or burning my neck with my curling iron. I am in a hurry to eat or in a hurry to fix my hair, I guess!

  5. I saw an English Mastiff this weekend and now I am in love. Seriously, I can't stop thinking about it. Tell me they have huge poop. PLEASE.

  6. I wear a mouthguard at night because I have TMJ. I grind, chomp and clench my teeth together all night long. I was diagnosed with TMJ 12 years ago after a series of headaches that basically brought me to my knees. The mouth guard brings me relief but does NOTHING for my sex appeal (well, neither do my flannel p.j.s, so what do I care?)

OK, here's who I'm tagging.....the rest of you who don't have blogs, let me know your six random things in a comment - I think it's OK if we break the rules!

Happy Birthday to Me

12:35 am, 5 lbs, 13 ozs, 19" long

Today I am 35.

A great birthday weekend!
We drove to Maine to see my parents.
The foliage was in peak color.
My Mom and Dad got to hold their granddaughter for the first time.
We ate four lobster rolls at Red's Eats in Wiscassett.
James' Grandpa showed him the garden and the farm animals.

My sister stopped in to visit her niece and nephew.
We bought homemade doughnuts at the Montsweag Flea Market.
Chris bought 75 vintage Matchbox cars for James at the fleamarket for $30.
Mom made my favorite birthday cake.
James gave me a sweet birthday card that he signed himself.

What more could I ask for?
